This morning, in the municipality of Santa Lucía del Camino, located in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca, two sisters were found murdered in their home in the Aquiles Serdán neighborhood. The victims were identified as Irene, 22 years old, and CPGH, 14 years old.
Justice authorities indicated that the double femicide took place on San José street. After receiving the report, the prosecutor's office initiated investigations through the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Attention to Crimes Against Women for Gender Reasons.
According to neighbors, the young women's mother and her partner were consuming alcohol at the time of the events. Although one version suggests that the victims' stepfather could be involved, it will be the investigations that determine responsibility in this tragic event.
So far this year 2025, including this case, six women have been murdered in Oaxaca, according to the newspaper tracking by the Group of Studies on Women "Rosario Castellanos". During Salomón Jara's administration, from December 1, 2022, to date, there have been 210 murders of women in the state.
