In the town of Santa Lucía del Camino, Oaxaca, the State Attorney General arrested a man identified as J.J.J.N. under suspicion of committing a femicide against two sisters, aged 22 and 14, in a home in the Santa Cecilia neighborhood. The crime took place on January 20, after a violent argument in which the young women lost their lives.

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Attention to Crimes Against Women on Gender Grounds took charge of initiating the corresponding investigation, using established protocols and a gender perspective to address the case. After a contextual analysis aimed at clarifying all lines of investigation, an arrest warrant was issued against J.J.J.N., considered the material author of the crime.

During the capture of the main suspect, a woman with the initials N.F.N.P. was also arrested, allegedly connected to the case. The State Attorney General of Oaxaca reaffirmed its commitment to justice and the application of protocols for femicide cases. Penalties for femicide in Oaxaca can reach a sentence of 50 to 60 years in prison, along with a considerable fine. Additionally, those who engage in concealment will face penalties of 15 days to two years in prison and fines ranging from 20 to 500 pesos.

Following the arrests, all three individuals involved were made available to the relevant authorities to determine their legal status and face a legal trial.
