The mayor of Santiago, David de la Peña Marroquín, and the Secretary of the City Council, Héctor Chávarri de la Rosa, have signed a Commitment Letter of No Political Violence against Women for Gender Reasons with the State Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute of Nuevo León. This initiative is led by Beatriz Adriana Camacho Carrasco.

In the words of De la Peña Marroquín, they commit to promoting public policies that guarantee the full exercise of women’s political rights. Additionally, they pledge to detect and address any behavior that threatens their freedoms. He expressed that in his administration, women have safe and respectful spaces to participate in politics and make decisions, always within the limits of the law.

In this context, the President Councilor of the State Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute of Nuevo León, Beatriz Adriana Camacho Carrasco, thanked De la Peña Marroquín for the commitment made in this fight against gender political violence. The signing of the letter was accompanied by a training workshop aimed at helping women within the City Council identify the different types of violence they may experience in the work environments of public administration.

As highlighted by the President Councilor, this action seeks to strengthen democracy by guaranteeing the active participation of women in politics, eliminating any form of discrimination or violence. She emphasized that promoting the presence of women in democracy is essential for equitable and fair development of society.
