Over 899 individuals have been detained recently, and authorities have seized significant amounts of drugs, including fentanyl and dismantled multiple clandestine labs.

Key Arrests Targeting Drug Cartel in Sinaloa

The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, informed during the conference of President Claudia Sheinbaum that recent operations in Sinaloa, which culminated in the detention of collaborators of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán, were not directed at the leader of the 'Los Chapitos' faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.

In García Harfuch's words: "There were two distinct operations [...] both were successfully completed and the subject you mentioned (Iván Archivaldo) was not the objective in those two operations." Among those arrested are José Ángel 'El Güero', Kevin Alonso 'El 200', and Mauro 'El Jando', the latter a trusted pilot.

These arrests add to a series of blows to the Sinaloa Cartel and its conflicting factions, 'Los Chapitos' and 'Los Mayitos'. According to Harfuch, there has been a constant "weakening" of these organizations, with numerous arrests of both their members and drug loads such as fentanyl.

The official highlighted that in Sinaloa, 899 people have been arrested, 50 clandestine laboratories have been dismantled, and more than 39 thousand kilograms of drugs and 86 thousand fentanyl pills have been seized, in an ongoing effort against drug trafficking in the region.

Regarding the alleged tunnel through which it is believed that Iván Archivaldo escaped from authorities, Harfuch mentioned that in recent weeks properties belonging to criminal groups containing tunnels and passageways have been confiscated. He also noted that they are collaborating with the Attorney General's Office to continue securing these properties.
