MC Party Crisis in Sinaloa: Power Struggle

The national leader of MC, Jorge Álvarez Máynez, is trying to navigate the crisis within his party in Sinaloa to demonstrate his political volume in light of his plan to retain the leadership of the orange space. According to his inner circle, Álvarez Máynez is not in agreement with the intention of Nuevo León's governor, Samuel García, who seeks to succeed him as the national leader of MC and eventually run for president in 2030. In the same vein, the former presidential candidate's intention to make an electoral bet on the State of Mexico instead of Zacatecas is evident, as he believes this option could give him more time to remain in the party. Sinaloa, in a state of shock over the attack on two MC legislators, emerges as another test for Álvarez Máynez, who, after a swift foray into Sinaloa, is now aiming to define the immediate future of the state's leadership. The chosen candidate would be businessman Pío Esquer, an ally of magnate Agustín Coppel, with whom he shares the vision that the party should compete in alliance with PAN in 2027. Secondary options would be the mayor of Elota, Richard Millán, or the leader of Mazatlán, Mylai Quintero, both also with good connections in the offices of the Napoles neighborhood in CDMX. In any case, the risk is high, and it is known within MC that the real chances in the entity are rather low and that this is actually a long-term process. The situation within the state's Morena party is also unsettling. The 4T aspirants who raised their hands to succeed Rocha ended up with legal problems, and now this drama is extending to other parties because Sergio Torres, before the attack, was working on his project for the governorship candidacy. Furthermore, Esquer is well-regarded by Dante Delgado, who has returned to the decision-making table of MC in recent months. The problem, already present, lies in Esquer's inner circle, where there are strong doubts about the need to get involved in politics in a state where even local deputies are clamoring for bodyguards and armored vehicles.
