At a press conference, Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, Secretary of National Defense of Mexico, revealed that a woman was key to the location of 'El Mencho'. Nemesio Rubén Oseguera, leader of the Jalisco Cartel, was killed on Sunday in Tapalpa during an operation by the Central Military Intelligence Center, the Prosecutor's Office, Special Forces, the Army, the Air Force, and Special Forces of Mexico. Trevilla assured that they tracked the drug trafficker's network of contacts until the conditions were met to advance the operation against the capo. However, the drug trafficker and his inner circle left the site for a forested area. 'Special forces personnel pursue him, locate him hidden in the undergrowth.' On February 20, through the work of the Central Military Intelligence Center, a trusted person of one of El Mencho's romantic partners was located, who was transported to a facility in the town of Tapalpa, Jalisco. There he met with El Mencho, and on February 21 he left the property, and it was learned that El Mencho remained in that place.' The operation was planned on February 21, for which an operational force was organized with three components: a land component, an aeromobile force, and an air support force, who did not go to Jalisco but remained in neighboring states. 'Once it was confirmed on the night of the 22nd the presence of El Mencho, the ground force moved to the place where he was to effect the arrest.' They open fire against the special forces (...) The military personnel repels the aggression, El Mencho is wounded along with two of his bodyguards.'
