This Sunday, a signature collection event took place in the main square of Tepic in support of the initiative to revoke the mandate of Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro. More than a thousand people gathered to back this civic process.
Benjamín Sandoval, a member of the organizing Citizen Committee, reported that during the event, signatures were collected at an average rate of 142 people per hour. 10% of the signatures from the nominal voter list of 11 out of the 20 municipalities in the state are needed to carry out the revocation.
The signature collection table was open from 10:00 to 17:00 hours, and it is estimated that the collection will continue until December 18, with itinerant tables in different municipalities of Nayarit. Additionally, collecting tables will be set up from October 31 to November 2 in the main cemeteries of the entity.
Around 500 volunteers are expected to participate, receiving signatures through the digital application "Citizen Support INE" in public spaces and through personal contacts. The activities and locations of the signature collection tables can be consulted on the Facebook page "Revocation of Mandate Governor Nayarit 2024."
The activist highlighted that among the main reasons that motivated this civic exercise are complaints related to dispossessions, inaction regarding the disappearance of persons, labor grievances, and other discontents. He called on citizens affected by the current administration to join this initiative, which will conclude on March 5, 2025.
So far, Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero has not made any statement regarding this civic protest against him.
