The influencer Fofo Márquez continues to generate controversy. Recently, his name resonated again after a lawyer claimed that the authorities made a mistake in his sentence and revealed a strategy that could reduce his time in prison.
Fofo Márquez is currently deprived of his liberty in the Texcoco prison for having beaten and assaulted a woman, causing her serious injuries and being detained for attempted femicide. Consequently, the 26-year-old influencer was sentenced to 17 years and seven months in prison.
In this regard, Fofo Márquez's family argues that his sentence was influenced by social pressure. His brother stated that the sentence was a result of public demand for imprisonment: "We live in a country where media attention is more important than a fair case."
In an interview on the show 'Chisme TV', lawyer Víctor Rivera pointed out that the authorities made a mistake by labeling the crime as femicide when it is actually aggravated injuries. He proposed a legal strategy to reclassify the crime and achieve Fofo Márquez's swift release, although he noted that this process would require the intervention of the federal jurisdiction and judges.
Rivera also mentioned that the strategy was previously explained to Fofo Márquez's family by the initial lawyer of the case but was not followed. He warned that the amparo route, which could take years, is necessary to resolve the influencer's case.
