A man celebrating his birthday in the Ciudad Jardín neighborhood of Tijuana, Baja California, shot and killed the lead singer of the band Reacción and injured another musician with a firearm, this over the weekend. The band, which had shared a post on its social media, was performing at the gathering where there were about 20 guests present. Without warning, the man who hired the band first fired into the air before shooting directly at the chest and other parts of the body of Arturo, the lead singer of Reacción, who died at the 'El Roble' event hall. Raúl, the band's second vocalist, was also injured in the violent incident, requiring the presence of Red Cross personnel to attend to him. He survived because the bullets were not mortal, and he was transferred to a hospital to be evaluated. His condition was reported as stable by the hospital's doctors. It is presumed the birthday boy was celebrating his 25th birthday in the company of others, although it is unknown if he was part of any criminal group in Tijuana, a city where forced disappearances have been recorded. Both the man who hosted the event and carried out the attack, as well as the guests, fled the crime scene without being detained by the police so far. Several fired handgun casings were left at the 'El Roble' venue, necessitating the presence of investigators from the Baja California State Attorney General's Office, who cordoned off the area to collect other evidence. To clarify the case, attempts were made to access surveillance camera footage; however, the venue did not have any.
