The State Security Secretariat of Mexico reported the detention of seven individuals allegedly linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) that operated in municipalities of the eastern part of the State of Mexico. Among the detainees is Kevin “N”, alias “El Fresa”, identified as a possible leader of the group. According to a statement from the agency, the arrests occurred during two separate operations carried out in the municipality of Tlalmanalco, in coordination with the municipal police, as part of the Unified Command Zone East operations. In a first intervention, carried out in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood, state and municipal elements detected several people “with evasive attitudes” handling plastic bags who tried to flee on two motorcycles upon noticing the police presence. After catching up to them and conducting a search, the agents found 72 bags with substance similar to marijuana, 374 wrappers with a substance with crystal-like characteristics, and two cell phones. For these facts, Giovanni “N”, 30; Jesús “N”, 20; Víctor “N”, 19, as well as two minors were arrested. According to the official report, the detainees said they belong to a criminal group with a presence in Tlalmanalco, Chalco, and Juchitepec. The State Security Secretariat of Mexico indicated that this cell would be related to activities such as micro-trafficking, extortion, and kidnapping in the region. It also noted that it is possible that some of the detainees are linked to the homicide of a woman that occurred on February 4th. In a second action, carried out in the Bella Vista neighborhood, the authorities captured Kevin “N”, alias “El Fresa”, 31, along with Aline “N”, 26. At the time of their arrest, they were seized a 9-millimeter caliber pistol, a magazine with five live cartridges, 40 wrappers of possible crystal, and a cell phone. Preliminary investigations point to “El Fresa” being possibly related to the finding of a woman without life, also recorded on February 4 in Tlalmanalco. According to information gathered by the authorities, the crime would have been allegedly ordered by the detainee “due to turf wars for control of the plaza.” The seven detainees and the seized objects were transferred to the Public Ministry Agency in Chalco, where the investigation file was initiated to determine their legal status.
