The Jalisco State Secretary of Security has launched the Data Consultation Room for families of missing persons, in order to expedite the search strategy. Thanks to this initiative, so far, 3 people reported as missing have been identified. Guadalupe Lucía Sánchez Vital, Head of the Statistics Area of the Coordination of Computing and CCTV of the State Social Reintegration Center, explained that this tool provides real-time information by cross-referencing data from the 12 Penitentiary Centers in Jalisco. "What we seek with this project is to provide families with information that offers peace of mind, in the sense of knowing if their relative is in custody in the state of Jalisco," she detailed. The Data Consultation Room began operations on February 4, initially collaborating with the Search Commissions of Jalisco and Michoacán. This project aims to strengthen the strategy for searching for missing persons who have an official report before the State Commission for the Search of Persons of the State of Jalisco (Cobupej). To access this service, interested individuals must present an official identification when making the request. The data search is independent, and in an average time of 20 minutes, information about the missing person in the penitentiary centers can be obtained. If the sought person is found in any of the penitentiary centers, immediate communication is established with the Commissioner in charge to provide emotional support to families by a multidisciplinary team. The service is offered at the Puente Grande Penitentiary Complex, located in the municipality of Tonalá, with operating hours from Monday to Friday, from 07:00 AM to 05:00 PM. The Data Consultation Room is an additional resource to the reports in the Deputy Attorney General's Office for Missing Persons and to the reports generated by families in the Search Commission, without replacing the official procedure.
