A small abandoned newborn on a vacant lot in Tultitlán, State of Mexico, has shown remarkable improvement in his health after receiving a month of medical care and was discharged from the hospital where he was treated after his rescue. The baby, who was left in a trash bag by his own father on February 11, is now under the protection of the System for the Comprehensive Development of the Family of the State of Mexico (DIFEM), which took on his care after the intervention of the State Prosecutor's Office for the Protection of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents.
The minor was given immediate care upon his admission to the hospital, and it was revealed that the mother seems to be involved in an agreement with Lucio, the father, to abandon the child. Both were charged on February 20 for complicity in the crime of attempted homicide and have been held in preventive detention since February 16 while the investigation takes place, with a deadline ending on June 16.
During the investigations, WhatsApp conversations between Lucio and Diana were leaked in which they coldly discussed how to get rid of the baby. On the other hand, Lucio's mother expressed outrage at her son's decision and publicly condemned the cruelty with which both acted. Meanwhile, the baby was found in extreme conditions on a vacant lot, and the rapid intervention and transfer to the Bicentennial of Independence Regional High Specialty Hospital were crucial for his survival and recovery.
Medical staff conducted various tests on the baby, such as metabolic, auditory, and cardiological screenings, without detecting congenital diseases, and the necessary vaccinations were also administered. The case of the little one from Tultitlán has shocked the community, and investigations are expected to continue until their conclusion in June.
