A newborn baby was abandoned on a street in Tultitlán, Mexico, by a young man identified as Lucio, who was captured by a security camera leaving the child in a blue plastic bag next to a parked car before leaving. The news went viral on social media when the video of the abandonment spread. The baby's mother, who had gone into labor while working at a bakery, was unaware of the events that led to her child's abandonment, as Lucio had instructed her to stay and clean while he took the baby to the hospital.
The situation was discovered when a call to the C-4 center reported the abandonment of the minor on Fuente de Ópalo street, in the Fuentes del Valle neighborhood. In response to this emergency, Civil Protection provided pre-hospital care to the baby and coordinated their immediate transfer to ISSSTE Hospital, where they were admitted to the pediatric emergency department for medical assistance. A municipal police officer was put in charge of safeguarding the child, and a complaint was filed at the Justice Center for Women in Cuautitlán Izcalli.
Lucio, the young man who committed the abandonment, decided to turn himself in to the authorities and went to a Public Ministry agency in the Cuauhtémoc mayoralty in Mexico City, although he was instructed to go to the State of Mexico due to the location of the events. The baby's mother expressed surprise at the situation and stated that she was unaware of Lucio's plans to abandon the newborn, as both were busy at work at the time of the birth.
