The mayor of Tultitlan, Ana María Castro Fernández, faces backlash for naming a neighborhood "Cuarta Transformación". Residents protest against the new street names reflecting Morena's agenda, citing lack of consultation.

Controversy Over Naming in Tultitlan's New Neighborhood

The municipal president of Tultitlán, Ana María Castro Fernández, decided to keep the name of the neighborhood 'Fourth Transformation' and the nomenclature of the streets related to the Morena party, despite protests from residents.

Since December 2024, the Municipal Government of Tultitlán announced the formalization of the names on the streets and the creation of the neighborhood 'La Cuarta Transformación', which generated complications in the registration of addresses in official documents.

The municipal president defended these measures as part of the recovery and regularization of land, especially on a 27-hectare property acquired by the Municipality of Tultitlán. According to the authorities, the creation of the neighborhood seeks to provide legal certainty and promote development.

The authorities also pointed out the individuals responsible for the protests, accusing them of lacking documentation and being involved in legal proceedings. They highlighted that they face groups that have illegally exploited properties for decades.

In addition to justifying their decision based on the values of the Morena party, the authorities assured that the regulation of land tenure is a priority. However, since January 8, residents have expressed their discontent by tearing down the signs with the new street names that refer to programs of the 'Fourth Transformation', such as 'Benito Juárez Scholarships' and 'Maya Train'.

The protesters argued that they were not consulted by the authorities regarding the name changes, which led to the protest in the streets.
