Attack on Police in Tuxtepec, Oaxaca

Four municipal police officers from Tuxtepec, Oaxaca, were killed on the morning of this Tuesday, and one more was seriously injured in an armed attack that occurred in the Las Limas neighborhood. Iván García Álvarez, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Oaxaca, confirmed that they are investigating what happened and are looking for those responsible for this multiple homicide.

In an official statement, the Oaxaca Prosecutor's Office announced that forensic investigations are being conducted to clarify the events. In a subsequent press conference, the governor of Oaxaca, Salomón Jara, expressed his sorrow over the attack and mentioned the hope that it is not related to adjustments between criminal groups.

Among the deceased is Víctor Valentín Morales, deputy director of the municipal police of Tuxtepec. In addition to the deceased officers, one state officer and two civilians were injured and are in serious condition in a hospital receiving specialized medical treatment.

The agents were traveling in patrol car PM-069 when they were ambushed in this tragic event. So far, no arrests have been reported related to this violent attack.
