In Chiapas, state and federal security corporations managed to secure an important arsenal, vehicles, tactical equipment, and other elements used by organized crime in the region. The Attorney General's Office (FGR) reported that, with the support of the Criminal Investigation Agency, the Ministry of National Defense, and the National Guard, a search was carried out at a property in Tuxtla Gutiérrez where the seizures were made.
Among the confiscated items are 29 vehicles, including two vehicles known as "monsters," four motorcycles, 64 long guns of different calibers, 578 magazines, more than a thousand cartridges of various calibers, boxes filled with cartridges, tactical vests, among other objects. The search warrant was authorized by a control judge from the Federal Criminal Justice Center and executed by elements of the Federal Ministerial Police.
The FGR continues with the integration of the corresponding investigation file against those responsible for possibly committing the crimes of firearm possession and possession of cartridges and magazines exclusively for Armed Forces use. In a previous case, last August, the linkage to process of two Guatemalans detained in Chiapas for possession of firearms exclusively used by the Army was achieved.
The detainees were caught in possession of two assault rifles, several magazines, and cartridges without the corresponding authorization, following a confrontation between two armed groups in the municipality of Berriozábal. The Prosecutor's Office charged them with violating the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives.
