Significant Arms Seizure in Uruachi, Chihuahua

In Chihuahua, local authorities have carried out a significant seizure of weapons and explosive devices belonging to drug cartels operating in the region. This specific area has been the scene of a territorial dispute between the criminal groups of the La Línea Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel since September 2024.

During several operations in different municipalities such as Ojinaga, Coyame, Manuel Benavides, and Guadalupe y Calvo, armor-piercing rifles caliber .50 (Barret) linked to the La Línea Cartel were seized, as well as bombs adapted for drones associated with the Sinaloa Cartel. These findings reflect the increase in firepower of both criminal organizations in Chihuahua.

Among the most notable discoveries are the 65 explosive devices adapted for drones that were secured in a joint operation in Uruachi, along with a Barrett rifle, a long gun, magazines, cartridges, and drones. The presence of drones in criminal activities has raised alarm among authorities, who are taking special measures to address this new trend in organized crime.

In another intervention in Uruachi, a cell of the Sinaloa Cartel was located, demonstrating an increase in criminal activity in that area. The seizure of improvised explosives adapted for drones was carried out in the locality of Arechuyvo.

Additionally, in Coyame del Sotol, the National Guard managed to secure a significant arsenal that included weapons of different calibers, thousands of cartridges, vehicles, and other tactical items. These operations are part of the authorities' efforts to reduce the violence generated by clashes between criminal groups in the region.

The head of the State Public Security Secretariat has announced the intensification of the work of the Institutional Operations Base with the deployment of joint forces and the use of different resources, such as helicopters and armored vehicles, to ensure security in the area. All seized items have been submitted to the Attorney General's Office for investigation and to determine their relation to other crimes.
