Two elements of the Municipal Police of Yuriria and an agent from the prosecutor's office were attacked with firearms in the community of Buenavista de la Libertad, in Yuriria, Guanajuato. The three are in serious but stable condition at the Regional Hospital. The agents were responding to a report about a supposedly deceased person, which led them to arrive as the first responders alongside the prosecutor's office agent. However, upon reaching the scene, they were attacked by individuals hiding in the area.
One of the injured is the deputy director of Public Security of Yuriria, who is stable after the violent incident. According to initial investigations, the Emergency Center received a report about the discovery of a corpse in the community of Buenavista. The Municipal Police, with the support of the prosecutor's office agent, responded to the call minutes before 8 in the morning, but upon arriving at the specified location, they found no dead body. Instead, they were ambushed by armed individuals, suggesting the possibility that it was a premeditated ambush.
At the moment of their arrival, the people present in the area opened fire on the agents and then fled, leaving behind the injured police officers. Emergency services responded to the scene following the same initial report and provided assistance to the injured.
