On May 20, María received an image showing her husband and her two children, kidnapped by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Since then, the woman has lived a nightmare trying to obtain information about their whereabouts and release. Although she made a ransom payment, she has not been able to recover her family.
María recounted how the situation became even more complicated when she discovered on Facebook that her children were being used as hitmen by the cartel. Desperate, she sought help from the authorities, but they were also unable to resolve her case. She even received threats that they would come back for them if she went to the Prosecutor's Office.
Despite María's attempts to recover her family, the kidnappers continued to demand more money and make violent threats. After a final contact in which they assured her that if she did not comply with their demands, her loved ones would be mutilated, María decided to flee the area for fear of reprisals and continues to wait for news about her husband and children.
