Zapopan Launches Traditional Recipe Book

The Government of Zapopan presented "Sabe a Zapopan: A Cookbook of Popular Food," a publication that brings together 19 traditional recipes from various localities in the municipality. This initiative aims to preserve and promote the culinary richness of local communities. The book includes dishes such as barbacoa, pozole rojo, mole verde, chicken birria, nopal water, and more, representing communities like La Primavera, Tesistán, Jocotán, Ixcatlán, Nextipac, El Batán, and Santa Ana Tepetitlán.

Cristopher de Alba Anguiano, director of Culture Zapopan, highlighted that each recipe is a link with history, considering that each ingredient and technique present in the cookbook are links that connect the past, ground in the present, and proudly project into the future. During the presentation, the Mayor of Zapopan, Juan José Frangie Saade, emphasized the importance of gastronomy as a cultural legacy and distinctive feature of each region.

At the event, the traditional cooks who shared their recipes, including Antonia Mora Cárdenas, Patricia Yolanda Martínez Rodríguez, and Petra Delgadillo Ramírez, were recognized by the authorities. This is the first edition of the "Sabe a Zapopan" cookbook, which will be updated every two years. The digital version will be available on municipal platforms, while the physical version will be distributed at the upcoming International Book Fair (FIL).

Leticia Sánchez Navarro, a traditional cook from La Primavera, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to share her culinary legacy, mentioning: "Since I was a child, I have prepared these traditional recipes, and it is an honor that they are now part of something so important for our municipality."
