The General Secretariat of the Government of Jalisco has launched the Strategic Forums for Municipal Development 2025 with the aim of strengthening the institutional development of the 125 municipalities in the state. The first meeting took place in Zapotiltic, bringing together officials and high-level authorities from 24 municipalities belonging to the Southern and Lagoon regions of Jalisco, under the supervision of the Secretary General of Government, Salvador Zamora Zamora.
In the words of Jorge Irineo Silva Sánchez, the Municipal President of Zapotiltic, "the importance of these forums is that we can understand everything that the State Government entails so that they feel confident approaching us." These meetings seek to generate scenarios, platforms, and strategic opportunities to ensure governance and social peace for the benefit of the 12 regions of Jalisco, as highlighted by Oswaldo Ramos López, General Director of Municipal Development.
The forum gathered 18 Municipal Presidents and representatives from the 24 invited municipalities, as well as Syndics, Treasurers, General Secretaries, Internal Auditors, and Heads of Citizen Participation. During the meeting, various presentations aimed at strengthening municipal capacities were addressed, such as the presentation of the services of the Regional Unit of State Services (Unirse) led by Allaen Matthew Cisneros Rodríguez, and an analysis of public spending and accountability by Antonio Mejía Ceja.
Additionally, an exhibition on governance and citizen participation was presented by Local Deputy Omar Enrique Cervantes Rivera. At the event, the constant support and openness from the State Government towards the municipalities were emphasized, as mentioned by Salvador Zamora Zamora, Secretary General of Government, thanking Governor Pablo Lemus for following up on municipal requests.
