The Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, inaugurated the first Sexual Diversity Clinic in the state, making it the only one of its kind in the country. During the inauguration, Master Delfina Gómez stated: "That is why we are investing in spaces like this, to have more and better services." The clinic offers comprehensive and specialized medical care in an inclusive, safe, and respectful environment for all patients, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
The new clinic has six consultation rooms and a laboratory equipped to conduct various studies, such as hematological biometrics, electrocardiograms, and blood chemistry of 31 elements, aimed at being a tool for prevention and care for the well-being of individuals. Additional services include a pharmacy, a center for the prevention, control, and treatment of HIV and AIDS, preventive medicine, rapid tests for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis, vaccination, gynecology, urology, psychology, and nutrition.
The event was attended by various personalities, including Horacio Duarte Olivares, Secretary General of the Government of the State of Mexico; Macarena Montoya Olvera, state Secretary of Health; representatives from civil society organizations, as well as local and federal deputies. The Governor emphasized that the clinic will not only serve sexual diversity but will also serve as a model for other municipalities, hoping to become a national reference.
The Sexual Diversity Clinic is part of the Regional High Specialty Hospital of Zumpango and will offer free services to the LGBTTIQ+ community. In addition, it was announced that there will be mobile units to address cases throughout the state, promoting inclusive and prejudice-free health. In this regard, Governor Delfina Gómez emphasized: "The sexual diversity clinic we inaugurated today is a model that we hope will motivate the other 125 municipalities."
