Simplification of Tax Declarations for Small Contributors

The Mexican Tax Administration Service (SAT) announced a significant simplification for small contributors under the Simplified Trust Regime (Resico), eliminating the need to file annual tax returns. Instead, contributors will only make monthly payments as long as their annual income does not exceed 3.5 million pesos. This change aims to reduce administrative burdens and enhance compliance for small businesses.

Simplification of Tax Declarations for Small Contributors

The Tax Administration Service (SAT) informed that taxpayers registered in the Simplified Trust Regime (Resico) in Mexico are exempt from filing the annual tax return. This means they only need to fulfill the corresponding payments for income tax (ISR). Those who change or return to this regime must submit a notice of activity update before January 31, 2025.

The Resico is aimed at individuals with annual income less than 3.5 million pesos who engage in activities in the primary sector, business, provision of professional services, or leasing of real estate. This regime seeks to simplify the payment of Income Tax (ISR), reduce tax rates, and apply deductions provided by law so that those with lower income pay less.

Among the benefits offered by Resico are the automatic calculation of taxes, administrative facilities, and minimum ISR rates ranging from 1% to 2.5% of the taxpayer's income. Additionally, this regime allows for the definitive cancellation of the annual tax return for small taxpayers registered under it, who will only need to make monthly payments corresponding to their income. This advantage will also be granted to those taxpayers registered in other tax regimes with annual income not exceeding 3.5 million pesos who decide to switch to Resico.
