Mexico, similar to Canada, has taken a firm position in the subcontinent regarding customs duties of 25%, introduced by the American president.
Mexico has excluded the possibility of remaining silent about this non-standard action and officially published a statement, confirming that it will respond to these duties "in accordance with the rules of the World Trade Organization."
"Mexico believes that these duties are unacceptable and inconsistent with international trade rules, therefore it is ready to take decisive measures to protect its interests," said a representative of the Mexican government.
Canada also announced that it is not inclined to remain on the sidelines of this situation. "Canada intends to protect its producers and exporters from the consequences of these customs duties, which inflict damage on all North American trade," said the Canadian trade minister.
