The private sector as a whole supports President Claudia Sheinbaum in promoting the Mexico Plan with the aim of increasing national content and reducing dependence on foreign imports. Francisco Cervantes, president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), emphasized the absolute support of the business sector during a meeting at the National Palace, where nearly 300 presidents and directors of companies met with the leader.
"We are here to provide the absolute support of the business sector," Cervantes pointed out. According to him, the dialogue established by Claudia Sheinbaum with President Donald Trump aims to strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises through the increase of national content, which plays a fundamental role in the economy.
The call between the head of the Mexican Executive and the President of the United States was followed by a meeting with business leaders and her economic team to coordinate the strategy that will boost the 'Mexico Plan'. The Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, urgently called on the private sector to activate the plan in each of its strategic sectors, as negotiations with the United States will be sectoral.
Another key initiative will be the relaunch of the 'Made in Mexico' program, which seeks to promote the quality and competitiveness of national products internationally, starting its campaign on March 3, 2025. Strategies to strengthen local production chains and foster industrialization in various regions of the country were also discussed at the meeting, according to Octavio de la Torre, president of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur).
De la Torre expressed the business sector's commitment to collaborate with public policies that promote national production, innovation, and domestic trade. The Confederation, which represents 5.2 million businesses and family-owned enterprises, has worked hard to promote communities and national products through its initiative 'Mexico Very Mexican', aiming to uplift local roots and production throughout the country.
