Relaunch of the 'Made in Mexico' Program

In light of U.S. tariffs, Mexico will relaunch the 'Made in Mexico' program to promote local consumption. It will start on March 3 and support the national economy.

Relaunch of the 'Made in Mexico' Program

Given the risk that the tariffs from the United States on Mexico will be applied in March, the Ministry of Economy, led by Marcelo Ebrard, announced the relaunch of the "Made in Mexico" program to encourage the consumption of local products. Business groups supported the proposal during a meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum and her cabinet.

The entrepreneurs, concerned about the 25% tariffs, expressed their support for the program and offered to collaborate in the negotiations to avoid such tariffs. The "Made in Mexico" campaign will be launched on March 3 with the aim of strengthening the national economy and promoting Mexican products.

The "Made in Mexico" emblem has been a seal applied to products from the country since 1978. This brand seeks to highlight the quality and origin of national products. The initiative, conceived during the government of Miguel de la Madrid, aims to identify goods and services manufactured in Mexican territory.

The program will function by granting a certificate to national products that meet certain quality standards. Beyond being an advertising strategy, this certificate aims to create a way to differentiate Mexican products from imported ones, particularly those from China. It seeks to prevent the re-labeling of Chinese products in Mexico and promote the consumption of items made in the country.

The relaunch of "Made in Mexico" coincides with trade tensions between Mexico and the United States. The campaign not only seeks to encourage local consumption but also to raise awareness of Mexican production both in the national and international markets.
