
During the month of January, Nuevo León stood out as the entity in the country that generated the most jobs, with the creation of 14,866 new positions compared to the end of the previous year. Sonora closely followed with the generation of 12,500 jobs. According to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), by the end of the month in question, Nuevo León had a total of 1,930,102 formal workers, representing a 0.78% increase compared to the 1,915,235 registered at the end of the previous year.
The 14,866 new jobs created in January correspond to 33.35% of the 44,571 that were lost last month, establishing a record job loss for Nuevo León since the IMSS began publishing statistics. Despite a decrease in the creation of companies for the third consecutive month, the entity achieved positive employment performance.
The IMSS reported that in January there were 77,710 registered companies in Nuevo León, which represented a decrease of 229 compared to the 77,939 companies registered at the end of the previous year. This negative trend in the creation of new companies started in November with the loss of 62 firms compared to October, followed by 269 fewer companies in December. In total, there is a cumulative loss of 560 companies over these three months.
