
The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel, announced that starting Monday, March 3, the payment of the Pension Bienestar for seniors corresponding to the March-April bimonthly period will begin. In Durango and Veracruz, there will be a double payment due to the electoral process that will take place this year. The payments will be dispersed until Thursday, March 27, from Monday to Friday and in alphabetical order.
In terms of gasoline prices, President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that starting Monday, the agreement to sell a liter of regular gasoline at 24 pesos came into effect. The head of Profeco, Iván Escalante, reported that verification visits were carried out in 15 states and banners were placed at some stations where prices above the agreed amount were found.
During the weekend, some stations like Hidrosina, Luz Saviñón, Pemex, and G500 have already started adjusting their prices. On Sunday, March 2, 613 people were deported, and U.S. President Donald Trump noted that February recorded the lowest number of migrant captures.
On another note, it was announced that since January 20, 19,663 migrants have been deported from the United States to Mexico, the majority being Mexicans. Regarding the Rita Cetina Scholarship, it was reported that on Tuesday, March 4, the payment for the January-February bimonthly period will begin for more than 7 million beneficiaries.
President Claudia Sheinbaum mentioned that meetings are being held with U.S. authorities regarding security and trade issues, highlighting an 85% approval rating in a recent survey. Regarding the detention of associates of the former governor of Michoacán, Silvano Aureoles, Sheinbaum noted that it is part of an investigation file from the Attorney General's Office that has been ongoing for several years.
Finally, in light of the possible imposition of tariffs by the United States on Mexico, Sheinbaum urged patience and calm to wait and see if an agreement can be reached to avoid these taxes.
