The national strategy to stabilize gasoline prices in Mexico is yielding positive results. In Campeche, the supermarket Chedraui offers the cheapest basic basket in the country for 696.80 pesos, while in Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico, Walmart registers the highest price at 939.40 pesos.

The national average price of tortillas in tortillerías is 23.65 pesos per kilo, although it can be found for as low as 18 pesos in Tlaxcala and can reach up to 32 pesos in Hermosillo. In the context of Lent, Profeco is monitoring the prices of 115 varieties of fish and seafood to ensure market competition.

The most recent report of "Quiéen es Quiéen en los Precios" presented by Iván Escalante revealed that more and more service stations are selling regular gasoline for less than 24 pesos per liter. The Energy Regulatory Commission reported that the average price of regular gasoline decreased from 24.08 to 23.87 pesos from March 2 to March 7, 2025.

According to the same report, it was found that basa fillet can cost 80 pesos in Mexico City and up to 150 pesos in Guadalajara, while the price of shrimp varies between 248 and 499 pesos per kilo depending on the city and establishment.

The governmental strategy to curb the impact of inflation on fuels is yielding good results, with service stations in Chiapas, Querétaro, Veracruz, Yucatán, and Tabasco offering more accessible prices that benefit drivers and reduce transport costs of goods.

Profeco recommends consulting its weekly reports or using price monitoring applications to find service stations with the best costs in locations such as Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Querétaro, Veracruz, Mérida, and Villahermosa.

In addition to fuel, the study indicates that the strategy against inflation has also benefited the basic basket, thus providing economic relief to consumers seeking to save in their daily expenses.
