
The calculation of debts in Mexico, which includes obligations of the government, social security funds, public companies, and development banks, has recorded a reduction. According to experts, this decline is partly explained by the increase in the minimum wage and the implementation of social programs.
Regarding legislation, a proposal has been presented for the Law against foreign ads, which provides for the cancellation of concessions in case there are reasons of national security or public interest. Additionally, fines are contemplated for concessionaires who do not comply with the regulations. On this matter, it is highlighted: "The law is detrimental to competition and free expression," experts warn.
In other aspects, the World Bank has indicated that Mexico is the country in Latin America where poverty has decreased the most during the period of 2018-2023. On the other hand, more than 70 civil organizations and various public figures, such as union leaders, former consuls, and defenders of bullfighting, have requested their registration with the INE to participate in future electoral processes.
On another note, an embezzlement case is being investigated at Super ISSSTE, where damage to the public treasury is estimated at 61 million pesos. The Prosecutor's Office has reactivated an investigation for alleged simulation of purchases, although the person identified as the main responsible has been exonerated.
On the international front, it is mentioned that the U.S. government would be considering reversing certain tariffs in a "U-turn." Lastly, it is reported that the debt of the Mexican government will reach 60.7% of GDP this year, a figure higher than the 51.9% recorded in the first year of the previous administration.
