Nuevo León Finances: 2026 Budget and Infrastructure Projects

The acting Treasurer of Nuevo León, Ulises Carlín, discussed the current state of the state's finances and the 2026 budget. Despite Nuevo León being the most indebted state in the country, its finances are considered healthy, as indicated by a 'green light' from the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit. This allows the state to access up to 16,000 million pesos in financing. The guiding principle is to invest in productive public infrastructure projects that provide long-term benefits. Carlín emphasized that works related to the FIFA World Cup and emblematic projects like the Metro are secured and will continue. He also stated that the Treasury does not engage in politics but acts as a technical executor, expressing hope for a swift resolution of the budgetary disagreements between the Executive and Legislative branches.
