Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) reported on the morning of this Friday, April 10, that the Olmeca Refinery, in Dos Bocas, Tabasco, continues to operate safely. It is confirmed that no personnel were intoxicated or injured, and review work is ongoing to determine the causes of the event.
Following the fire registered on Thursday in the coke storage pit, it is reported that it was fully extinguished around 6:25 PM, with no major damage.
«The timely intervention of personnel and fire-fighting systems, as well as the application of safety protocols and operational procedures, allowed the incident to be controlled in a little over an hour and a half».
The response was carried out through coordinated work between Pemex personnel through the Southern Regional Emergency Response and Management Group (GRAME SUR), the Navy (SEMAR), and State and Civil Protection.
It is important to highlight that the refinery remains in safe and operational conditions.
It is confirmed that no personnel were intoxicated or injured, and the causes of the event are under review.
Likewise, the public is informed in the statement that there is no risk to the neighboring community, so there is no cause for alarm.
