Heffner, who has been head of the Economic Measurement Division, will replace Alejandrina Salcedo. The leadership changes will take effect on April 13.

The Bank of Mexico (Banxico) has appointed Aldo Heffner Rodríguez as its new chief economist, filling a position that had been vacant for six months. The measure will take effect on April 13, a Banxico spokesman told Bloomberg News. Heffner replaces Alejandrina Salcedo, who resigned in October to take a position at the Bank for International Settlements. According to a source consulted by Bloomberg News, employees were informed by email of several changes in the leadership. Heffner has been director of the Economic Measurement Division at the central bank since 2018. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), and has held various roles as an economist at Banxico. Nicolás Amoroso Plaza will replace Heffner in that position, while Julio Carrillo Abrego will take over as head of macroeconomic analysis, and Jamel Kevin Sandoval Hernández González will become monetary research manager.

He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM) and a master's degree in Economics from Northwestern University in the United States.
