
Carlos Slim, the richest man in Mexico and Latin America, met with President Claudia Sheinbaum at the National Palace on Tuesday, October 22. During the meeting, they discussed new projects in which the businessman and his team will participate. Upon leaving the meeting, Slim mentioned that topics of private investment were addressed, particularly highlighting its importance for the coming year.
"We talked about private investment, which is very important for the upcoming year," said Carlos Slim. He also mentioned that many projects are anticipated and a significant amount of private investment is expected for the year 2025. However, he did not specify which specific projects he would contribute to under Claudia Sheinbaum's administration nor whether he would be involved in the construction of the new train lines announced by the president.
During the meeting, Slim was accompanied by Francisco Cervantes, president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE). The businessman expressed that he views the Mexican economy with optimism and anticipates great potential, as well as the realization of important agreements with the United States in the near future. Regarding the country's economic outlook, Carlos Slim predicted that "many good years are coming."
This is the third meeting between Carlos Slim and Claudia Sheinbaum, having previously coincided on June 11 at the Soumaya Museum. On that occasion, they both attended the award ceremony for Dr. Moisés Selman, who is the partner of the President's mother. So far, no details have been given about Slim's possible participation in future government projects, nor have statements been revealed from Sheinbaum regarding this.
