
In October 2024, the nominal sales at comparable stores of the members of the National Association of Self-Service and Department Stores (ANTAD) increased by 1.7% compared to the previous year, marking the worst performance for a tenth month since 2017, when the indicator grew by 2.10% annually.
The statement issued by ANTAD, chaired by Diego Cosío, revealed that total revenue at stores, which includes all branches opened in the last 12 months, increased by 4.3% compared to October of the previous year. This month marks the fifth time in 2024 that sales have been below inflation, even though it has been decreasing in recent months.
In real terms, discounting the 4.7% inflation in October, ANTAD sales fell by 2.92% annually at comparable units and by 0.44% at total units. From January to October 2024, sales at comparable stores grew by 4.3%, while revenues at total units reported an accumulated increase of 7.3%.
At the end of 2023, the commercial chains that make up ANTAD comprise more than 48,000 stores, with a total selling area that exceeds 22.1 million square meters.
