New Universal Basic Education Scholarship in Mexico

The government of President Claudia Sheinbaum has launched the Universal Basic Education Scholarship "Rita Cetina", aimed at secondary school students across Mexico. The Ministry of Public Education (SEP), through the National Coordination of Scholarships for Well-Being Benito Juárez (CNBBBJ), announced the opening of online registration starting December 11. In the first phase, the scholarship will benefit 5.6 million secondary school students in public schools, regardless of their economic circumstances.

To enroll in the Rita Cetina Scholarship, it is necessary to attend an affiliated public secondary school, with no minimum average required. Registration can be done online on the official page by providing digital documentation such as the CURP of parents/guardians and students, official identification, and proof of address. In communities without internet access, in-person registration will be conducted.

The scholarship will consist of 1900 pesos bimonthly to secondary school students, with an additional 700 pesos for each secondary student in the household, totaling 2600 pesos. Additionally, it is required to activate an account on the "Llave MX" platform, part of the identification system of the Government of Mexico, to register and carry out other educational procedures.

To activate the "Llave MX" account, one must enter the scholarship website, provide the student's CURP, verify the automatically completed data, enter an email and phone number, create an access password, and complete the process. Once finished, a message confirming the successful creation of the account will be displayed.
