
The head of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Lázaro Cárdenas de Río, announced an ambitious investment plan in infrastructure to improve the roads in Oaxaca and Guerrero. An amount of 5 billion 986 million pesos will be allocated for the construction and rehabilitation of 904 kilometers of state and feeder roads in Oaxaca. Likewise, in Guerrero, a specific program will be established that will include the reconstruction of bridges and other important actions for the region.
During an event, Cárdenas de Río detailed the National Road Infrastructure Program 2025-2030, which contemplates an investment of 173 billion pesos for over 4 thousand kilometers in road length. It is projected to work on 43 thousand 371 kilometers of toll-free roads as well as on the federal toll road network, which encompasses 10 thousand 614 kilometers. Out of the total 54 thousand kilometers of the federal road network, 19 thousand 240 km correspond to the 15 priority trunk axes identified.
Regarding other projects, the incorporation of cargo to the Maya Train by SEDENA and the construction of additional branches by the Secretariat of the Navy were highlighted. Esteva Medina, another official present at the event, emphasized the educational and cultural infrastructure plans, which include the construction of 18 high schools and the Rosario Castellanos Universities. For the current six-year term, the construction of 3 thousand kilometers of roads is projected, such as the Lechería-AIFA, AIFA-Pachuca, Mexico-Querétaro, Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo, and Querétaro-Irapuato routes.
In the airport sector, it was reported that work is being done on a new aviation policy to improve infrastructure, services, and strengthen personnel. An investment of 117 billion 575 million pesos in airport infrastructure is planned. Regarding the infrastructure secretariat, various ongoing projects were detailed, such as the construction of new bridges and road distributors, which will involve an investment of 11 billion 847 million pesos.
In continuity works, various road projects are underway, such as the Real del Monte-Huasca road and the Nichupté Vehicle Bridge. The progress in the construction of the Interurban Train “El Insurgente” and the Trolebús Chalco-Santa Martha was also mentioned. Additionally, it is projected to develop five road projects under the Construction, Maintenance, Rehabilitation, and Operation model, with an investment of 30 billion 665 million pesos by the government.
The Road Conservation Program includes initiatives such as Bachetón and periodic maintenance, with significant progress. The acquisition of 20 repaving trains to improve execution capacity in road maintenance was also mentioned. Finally, Secretary Esteva Medina highlighted the return of passenger trains as part of the plans for improvements in infrastructure and transportation.
