Angélica Rivera Returns to Television

The return of Angélica Rivera to Mexican television after 18 years of absence has captured the attention of showbiz followers. The actress, known for her role in 'Destilando amor' which earned her the nickname La Gaviota, retired after marrying former president Enrique Peña Nieto in 2010, from whom she divorced in 2019. During that period, Rivera was heavily criticized in Mexican society for her alleged role in political decisions.

Her return to television presents a challenge amid the controversy that surrounded her. However, she is not the only actress to have returned to the small screen. Yadhira Carrillo, absent for 17 years, has also come back with the series 'Las hijas de la señora García' and will participate in the remake of 'El privilegio de amar' produced by José Alberto ‘El Güero’ Castro.

Unlike Rivera, Carrillo was seen on several occasions during visits to her husband, lawyer Juan Collado, who faces accusations of organized crime and fraud. These comebacks have excited television followers as they watch the stars of 90s telenovelas return to Televisa, giving them a chance to detach their image from their political past.

The return of these public figures to entertainment has generated debate and controversy, especially among other artists like Erika Buenfil. The actress threw a possible jab at the two actresses in question, expressing her opinion on her private Facebook account, under the name Teresa Buenfil López: 'And then powerful husbands leave them. That’s why!'
