Investigation of Human Remains in Teuchitlán

The Attorney General's Office of Jalisco State reported that it has located six sites where it found skeletal remains and more than 500 clues, in four points of the Izaguirre ranch, in the municipality of Teuchitlán, attributed to one of the drug trafficking cartels.

Last week, a collective searching for the disappeared found three clandestine crematories at the site, after an anonymous tip, in addition to charred and crushed human bone remains, more than 200 pairs of shoes and hundreds of clothing items and personal belongings, in what was termed a "concentration and training camp" of drug trafficking.

At the site, belongings have been located, both of victims and of individuals who may have been involved in illicit activities," added the state prosecutor. Hundreds of articles of clothing and personal belongings have been registered and classified in an area that has tactical training and physical conditioning.

State prosecutor Salvador González de los Santos explained that a detailed forensic analysis is being conducted to determine the age of the remains and their possible identifications. Experts indicate that there was no activity at the site after it was secured last September, although work continues to determine the exact age of the remains found.

On Tuesday, the prosecutor supervised the investigative work at the ranch to rule out the presence of more human remains and to strengthen collaboration with the collectives searching for the disappeared. Similarly, it has been made clear that all available information will be shared with the Federal Government, and they have been invited to be part of the ongoing investigations.
