Searchers from Jalisco found a training and 'extermination' camp in Teuchitlán, Jalisco, allegedly operated by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). It was on March 5 that they located it at the Izaguirre ranch.
The State Prosecutor's Office confirmed the discovery of six sites with skeletal remains and more than 500 indications at four points of the Izaguirre ranch. Among the remains found were charred and crushed human bones, as well as more than 200 pairs of shoes, clothing, and personal items, describing the place as a "concentration and training camp" of drug trafficking.
Verónica Cruz, mother of a missing young man, expressed her concern over not finding any personal belongings of her son among the findings. According to her account, her son had been recruited by the CJNG after accepting a job offer in Jalisco. Robert Esteban, 16 years old, was among the young people deceived with job promises only to be sent to fight against rival cartels.
The mother detailed her son's desperate situation when he contacted his sister via WhatsApp, confessing his condition as a hitman and fearing for his life. The Jalisco Search Commission indicated that Robert was last seen in April 2024 in Amatitlán, and there have been no news since early June of that year. The family continues to search for him and requests greater efforts from the authorities to locate him.
