A preliminary magnitude 5.7 earthquake with an epicenter in Oaxaca was felt this afternoon in Mexico City. According to the National Seismological Service (SSN), the tremor was located 14 km northeast of Puerto Escondido and was recorded at 15:42:11 this Sunday, February 8. Head of Government of CDMX, Clara Brugada, reported that: “following the earthquake of magnitude 5.7 with an epicenter in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, it has been reported that, for the moment, there is no damage reported. We ask the population to report any incidents to 911”. After the seismic alert was activated, as a result of the flyovers of the #Condors and the patrols of the @SSC_CDMX police in the #CDMX, no damage or impacts have been reported. We will remain vigilant and inform of any eventuality. In turn, the National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC) of the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) reported that immediately, response and evaluation protocols were activated by state and municipal civil protection units, with the aim of identifying possible impacts, structural damage, and risk areas. “For the moment, no damage has been reported.
