President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the federal government has accelerated the national measles vaccination campaign and ruled out any risk of shortages, stating that the goal is to administer 2.5 million doses per week to rapidly increase coverage nationwide. According to official data, between 2025 and the current year 2026, more than 16 million vaccines have been administered. In the week of February 7-13 alone, approximately 1.7 million doses were administered, nearly double the previous week, reflecting a sustained increase in the vaccination rate. Sheinbaum detailed that there is currently an inventory of 27 million biological products and that around 15 million additional doses are being managed with the Pan American Health Organization to ensure sufficient supply not only for the remainder of 2026 but also for the following year. Caputo warns that a tough quarter is coming due to falling revenue and exhausted credit. The priority call is aimed at girls and boys aged six months to 12 years who have not been vaccinated or have incomplete schedules, as well as people aged 13 to 49 without protection, especially in states with higher incidence. Among the states where actions have been reinforced are Jalisco, Colima, Chiapas, Sinaloa, Durango, Mexico City, Nayarit, Tabasco, Sonora, Tlaxcala, and Puebla, where permanent coordination is maintained with state health authorities. In the last year, 9,400 cases of measles and 29 deaths have been confirmed since February 2025, 21 of them in Chihuahua. Although the incidence is considered low relative to the population size, the president emphasized that intensive vaccination is key to cutting transmission. The doses are free and available at more than 20,000 public sector points, which can be located at dondemevacuno.salud.gob.mx or by calling 079.
