In the context of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Faculty of Medicine at UNAM, in collaboration with the IMSS Foundation, launched the campaign "Braiding Help". This initiative aims to collect hair to make wigs for patients fighting breast cancer.
Gabriela Borrayo, Secretary of the Faculty of Medicine, and Ana Lía García, General Director of the IMSS Foundation, expressed their deep emotion at the supportive response from the community. Men and women, including students, teachers, administrative staff, and family members, joined together to participate in the creation of wigs, demonstrating their support and solidarity towards those who will receive these meaningful donations.
The collection activities were carried out both on the campus of the Faculty of Medicine at UNAM and at the facilities of the IMSS Foundation on Paseo de la Reforma. The generously made wigs will be provided free of charge to patients, offering them a gesture of support during their recovery process.
The "Braiding Help" campaign exceeded the organizers' expectations by bringing together a diverse and committed community to this noble cause. The active participation of all involved, which even included men willing to donate part of their hair, highlights the strength and solidarity surrounding this initiative to support breast cancer patients.
