The Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Issste) conducted 36 interventions during a cardiology day in Baja California, as part of its efforts to streamline care and expand services for the beneficiaries. This initiative is part of the strategy to reduce the backlog of surgeries and provide timely attention to patients.
On the occasion of World Heart Day, celebrated on October 29, clinical and interventional cardiologist from the National Medical Center (CMN) "20 de Noviembre," José Alfredo Merino Rajme, who was in charge of the surgeries performed in Baja California, highlighted the importance of following up on patient care, especially in critical procedures that can save lives immediately.
Merino Rajme explained that during the day, a percutaneous aortic valve replacement was performed using a minimally invasive technique, with the patient awake, to treat aortic stenosis, a potentially deadly disease that can lead to serious complications in the heart. The cardiologist emphasized the importance of providing timely care in such pathologies, as the speed of the procedures can make the difference between life and death.
The goal of these interventions is to ensure that patients progress satisfactorily and can lead a life without serious heart complications, thus improving their health and quality of life. Merino Rajme thanked the support, organization, and coordination of the specialists from the General Hospital "5 de Diciembre" for collaborating in the surgeries from October 14 to 16, highlighting the importance of working together to provide quality medical care to the population.
