Emergency Meeting in Mexico After Trump's Inauguration

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, called for an emergency meeting with cabinet members after Donald Trump's inauguration as president of the United States. The aim of the meeting was to establish the measures that the Mexican government would adopt in response to the executive orders signed by the U.S. president to promote the mass deportation of migrants and close the border between the two countries.

Several officials were present at the meeting, including the secretaries of Governance, Foreign Affairs, National Defense, and Navy, as well as other cabinet members. Moreover, the current head of the National Institute of Migration and the next head of the same department attended.

After the meeting, Claudia Sheinbaum congratulated Donald Trump on assuming the presidency and expressed her desire to maintain dialogue, respect, and cooperation between both countries. Furthermore, the implementation of the 'Mexico Embraces You' program was announced to welcome deported nationals from the United States and provide support for their return and integration into social and labor programs.

During his inauguration, Donald Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border of the United States, announcing measures to stop the illegal entry of migrants and order mass deportations. He reinstated the 'Remain in Mexico' program, which requires asylum seekers to stay in Mexican border cities while their cases are resolved in U.S. immigration courts.

The suspension of the mobile application CBP One, which allowed migrants to enter the United States, was also mentioned. Following the cancellation, it was reported that the scheduled appointments had been canceled, affecting the daily allocation of 1,450 spaces at the seven ports of entry on the border.
