The head of the Secretariat of Governance (Segob), Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, presented the report on the Government of Mexico's strategy "Mexico embraces you" for Mexican migrants who will be repatriated from the United States. During the Morning Conference of the president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Rodríguez Velázquez emphasized that migrants are hardworking people who contribute to the economies of the countries where they reside and their country of origin.
The strategy aims to warmly and humanely receive repatriates, coordinate an inter-institutional effort to assist returnees, ensure compliance with international treaties regarding repatriation, and guarantee the reintegration of migrants into their communities of origin. Components such as consular assistance and protection, reception and support in specially designated centers, and reintegration through social services and welfare programs are highlighted.
The Attention Centers will be located in six border states and will offer services such as orientation, legal support, medical assistance, employment, and access to welfare programs. In addition, affiliation with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) will be offered to deportees, including a monetary transfer and comprehensive care.
The Command Center will coordinate the attention to repatriates 24 hours a day and will have inter-institutional representatives. The Secretariats of National Defense and Navy will collaborate in the strategy with food services, security in the attention centers, and support in transfers and transportation.
Reception at entry points will be orderly and safe, ensuring free transfers, temporary accommodation, food, personal hygiene kits, identity documents, health services, and reintegration programs. All these measures aim to provide a dignified welcome and comprehensive support to repatriated migrants to facilitate their reintegration into Mexican society.
