The Mexican government reports a 27% reduction in homicides compared to 2018, with over 10,000 arrests for high-impact crimes and significant drug seizures.

The Secretary of Citizen Security and Protection, Omar García Harfuch, reported that in recent weeks important arrests and seizures have been made in Mexico. A total of 10,148 people were arrested for high-impact crimes, and more than 90 tons of drugs were seized, including fentanyl. Additionally, 4,981 firearms were confiscated, and 139 clandestine laboratories in various states of the country for the production of methamphetamines were dismantled.

For her part, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the incidence of intentional homicides has decreased by 27% from 2018 to the current date. Although consolidated figures will be released in 15 days, it is expected that the daily average of homicides at the end of January will be approximately 73, which represents a significant reduction.

The head of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, Marcela Figueroa, revealed that 53% of intentional homicides are concentrated in seven states of the Republic. Guanajuato tops the list with 13.3%, followed by the State of Mexico, Michoacán, Baja California, Chihuahua, and Jalisco.

In the same period, large quantities of chemicals used in drug manufacturing have been seized, which has caused significant economic damage to criminal organizations. The actions taken have contributed to a decrease in the crime rate in the country, showing significant progress in the fight against crime.
