Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda has requested protection from a district judge in Tamaulipas to shield himself from any legal proceedings initiated by institutions in Nuevo León, such as the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Judiciary, or the Audit Office. García argues that the proceedings in these entities are deemed "arbitrary, unjustified, and biased, motivated by different interests."
In seeking protection for himself and 12 relatives, it is argued that after a preliminary analysis no legal justification was found in the cases, suggesting that these institutions act in a biased and arbitrary manner against him. The request for legal shielding arises amid the reactivation by Congress of pending political trials against the governor, along with 18 sentences for alleged electoral crimes.
Recent actions undertaken by the opposition, such as the linking of Alejandra Morales to a process by the PAN of San Nicolás and the arrest of Blas Escamilla, have raised concerns in the Palacio de Cantera. The government has expressed that the opposition continues to intensify the persecution against officials of Movimiento Ciudadano.
Regarding the request for protection, it was mentioned: "The federal judge who is handling this demand was able to notice that indeed there are unjustified actions against the current Governor and his close relatives," shared the executive regarding the protections.
