The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, firmly rejected the accusations from the White House regarding alleged alliances of the Mexican government with criminal organizations, as well as any attempts at interference in national territory. In a message disseminated on social media, the head of state urged for dialogue and cooperation without subordination to third countries.

U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, mentioned that the possibility of military action in Mexico to combat drug cartels is being considered, in the context of the executive order signed by former President Trump that designates these organizations as foreign terrorists. A change in border security strategy is proposed and it is asserted that all options would be on the table to address these threats to U.S. security.

Billionaire Elon Musk, who is in charge of the Office of Government Efficiency in the U.S., mocked the stance of the Mexican president for rejecting Trump's claims of a supposed alliance between the Mexican government and the drug cartels. Musk stated that only U.S. military forces could defeat the cartels, referring to an alleged dispatch of armed drones by the cartels according to a NewsNation publication.

Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing tariffs on Mexican products, citing the flow of illegal immigration and drug trafficking across the common border. In response, President Sheinbaum rejected Trump's accusations and denied any alliance with criminal organizations, describing such claims as libel.

The U.S. Secretary of Defense held talks with his Mexican counterparts to address national security issues and defense cooperation, emphasizing the priority of protecting the United States, securing the southern border, and dismantling cartel activities.
