New initiative for higher secondary education in Mexico

The Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, joined the presentation of the National Baccalaureate Plan for All, an initiative led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo aimed at ensuring access to upper secondary education for Mexican youth. In this context, the Governor of Mexico signed as an honorary witness the adhesion agreement, highlighting the importance of guaranteeing this educational right.

The State of Mexico is recognized for having the largest number of upper secondary education students in the country, with figures reaching 652,869 students, as well as a significant number of teachers and schools dedicated to this educational level. In this framework, the signing of this agreement includes educational institutions from both the State of Mexico and Mexico City, allowing all students to access upper secondary education without the need to take an entrance exam.

One of the highlighted aspects of this agreement is the implementation of a unique national certificate, as well as the possibility of obtaining a technical studies certificate. With the aim of expanding coverage and providing attention to a greater number of young people, the construction of seven new high schools in municipalities in the eastern zone of the State of Mexico was announced, as well as the conversion of ten secondary schools into high schools with evening shifts.

Various educational institutions joined this agreement, including the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the National Polytechnic Institute, the Metropolitan Autonomous University, and the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions, with the support of the Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada Molina. In the words of Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez, this agreement represents an important step in strengthening upper secondary education and generating educational opportunities for young Mexicans.
